Imagine you have to recommend where to locate a new production plant based on meeting targets, and when to place an order to avoid a stock out. These are just two of the questions in the new 9-1 GCSE Business Studies calculation quiz (see video preview). There are 170 interactive Multichoice questions in all, giving you the chance of immediate yes/no feed back, or complete a mock exam and then automatically generate a % score approximate grade, and revision list of topics you struggled on. The quiz starts with basic Sales, Profit, Cost, Cash flow and Contribution/Break Even; then continues into topics like balance sheet then Income statement ratios like % Margin; external economic factors, productivity and utilisation, and several more. The questions are mostly numerical formula calculations, and also graphs and analysis and evaluations using the data you’ve calculated. So the quiz helps prepare for all the assessment objectives in the exam. With basic excel skill you can add more questions yourself .

GCSE 9-1 Business Entrepreneur full pack

GCSE 9-1 Business Entrepreneur full pack

Full multi media package of seven Business Entrepreneur themes, for each a slide-pack with case study videos, starter, plenary and multichoice quiz. In Business Studies at both GCSE and A Level the topic of “entrepreneur” is a central idea. But what does this really mean and what skills do they need? I was commissioned by a colleague Josh John to construct slides around seven themes, such as Finance and Marketing, provided by the Institute of Enterprise and Entrepreneurs, to help those with a difficult start to become successful entrepreneurs. I added in a large chunk of the GCSE syllabus, together with many case studies and activities, and video links using a variety of BBC sources from their CEO secrets, Dragons Den, Business website, and Bitesize. The seven packs contain slideshow-transitioned summary text, diagrams, and accompanying starters and plenaries and interactive multichoice quizzes which give you an immediate score. I have often used very recent examples such as how businesses survived and thrived in the Pandemic, how start-ups used Green sustainable principles, and how on-line e-commerce and social media helps entrepreneurs. The characters in the case studies include many famous business people like Lord Sugar and Levi Roots, but also new ones you won’t have heard of who but have inspiring stories, sometimes overcoming struggles to go from “rags to riches”. The package provides material for teachers, helps revision cards for students and brings to vivid life the world of the “entrepreneur”.
